Therapeutic listening is an ancient practice, adapted by Ty Rex as a modality for grief, anxiety, and recovery, developed from 25+ years of psychosomatic practice with individuals and communities. Ty Rex guides from the piano, composing harmonies, tonal pairings, and rhythmic sequences for specific mental and emotional states.

Offered in person, or over Zoom. Sessions can also be gifted.

“After tragedy on top of tragedy – the loss of my mother and a destructive tornado – Ty listened to my frantic & grieving stream of consciousness. He slowly & gently responded with his piano, giving me intentional space to be present with my grief. It was one of the most memorable moments I have from that season of loss & destruction. Beauty amidst the ashes.” - Stephen

About me, why I do this, and why it works-
Since early childhood, the piano has been a powerful tool for protecting myself during traumatic experiences, and serving in my recovery afterward. I came into this world as a highly sensitive person, and struggled immensely to regulate my emotions growing up. By embracing the instrument as both a friend and psychosomatic practice, I’ve learned to transmute dense emotional energy, reclaim my focus and clarity, and slowly heal my body. My technique has evolved from a deep history of development and practice on myself first, and then hundreds of clients, as well as my studies with teachers and indigenous elders whose lineages birthed these techniques.
